The Egypt Exploration Society has been excavating in Egypt since 1882 and now holds one of the UK's largest archives of original material from those early days of travellers, explorers, and pioneering archaeologists.
Have you ever wanted to know more about Egypt? More about what is held in our archives? Wanted to read from the hand of Petrie himself? Or travel to Egypt through the letters of Miss Amelia Edwards? Well, now is your chance!
The EES is opening the doors of its London Headquarters for a series of Access Archive Afternoons, giving visitors the opportunity to see some of their treasures. Visitors will see watercolours by Howard Carter, early film footage of Amarna by John Pendlebury, early correspondence from Egyptologists and explorers in Egypt, as well as thousands of excavation photographs and more!

Women in Ancient Egypt, Thais Rocha da Silva (University of Oxford)

Access Archive Afternoons are totally FREE, no need to book!
Lunchtime Lectures 13:00-13:30
Open Archive 13:30-14:00

Why not go along to the Friends of the Petrie Museum lecture in the evening?
