Cairo Class: Museum Education (Reality and Hope)

On Saturday
Course objectives:
1- The importance of museums and archaeological areas as educational and cultural institutions.
2- Defining of museum education – Evolution – Philosophy.
3- The goals of museum education and its importance in society.
4- Theories of learning museum and Methods.
5- Museum Educator (specifications, functions, and his duties).
6- How to Manage and develop the museum education departments.
7- Museum education and local community.
8- Local and international experiences in museum education field.
This session for:
1- Archaeologists (curators, inspectors, and restorers).
2- Students of Archaeology and Art faculty.
3- Public whom interested in education and learning museum.

Duration of the course
Session consists of 12 lectures include:
- First Lecture:
Museums: origins, evolution, types and the most important educational and cultural activities for museums.

- The second lecture:
Museums and archaeological areas, as educational institutions.

- Third Lecture:
Education museum in the context of the functions of the museum.

- Fourth Lecture: Museum Education: Growing and development targets.
- The fifth lecture:
Museum Education: importance and globally and locally programs.

- Sixth Lecture:
Museum Educator: His preparing (educationally practically and technically).

Seventh lecture: ways and methods of museum education.-
Eighth lecture: Museum Education and Surround community. -

- Ninth lecture: The experiences of some international museums:
The British –Metropolitan - Boston - Child Museum in Beijing))

- The tenth lecture: The experiences of some Egyptian museums (Children Museum in Heliopolis - Coptic Museum - Gayer Anderson museum - property vehicles castle museum - Corner Helwan museum - Akhenaton Museum).

- The eleventh and twelfth lecture: A field visit to some Museums.
