Al-Fath Mosque

Explore some of Egypt's most unique heritage sites from the comfort of your home.

This is one of the largest mosques in Cairo, located in Ramesses Square opposite Cairo train station. It has Cairo’s tallest minaret at 130m and was inaugurated in 1990. It was built on the site of an earlier mosque established during the Muslim conquest of Egypt. This earlier mosque was destroyed by French occupational during the Revolt of Cairo in 1798. A military facility was built on top of the ruins which was then torn down to build the new Majid (mosque) Al-Fath which you can explore in this 3D virtual tour.
