Join us in welcoming Charlotte Jordan to the London Office staff team.

We’re delighted to welcome Charlotte Jordan to the Society’s London Office staff team as the new Engagement Manager. This role has oversight of communications from the Society on its website, social media platforms, events, and in our biannual Egyptian Archaeology magazine. Charlotte studied Egyptology at the University of Liverpool, graduating with her MA in December 2018. Her research focused on Middle Kingdom administration, economy and regionalism, and utilised GIS to understand past motivations of elite tomb construction. During her MA studies, she found her passion for public engagement, which she developed further as President of the Society of Archaeology, Classics and Egyptology (SACE). Previously, Charlotte participated in several EES courses, including the annual Egyptian Archaeology Skills School (see above) and Digital Digging with Dr Hannah Pethen (soon to be rerun online!). Since then, Charlotte has been inspired by the Society’s mission to support and promote Egyptian cultural heritage. She spent two months excavating at an early Neolithic site in Turkey: Boncuklu (see left). As well as being the Engagement Manager for the EES, Charlotte continues at the British Institute at Ankara, focusing on Turkish archaeology and research.

Charlotte is a firm believer that personable experiences of cultural heritage can unlock a lifelong enthusiasm in people, especially for the exciting field of Egyptology – something we can all agree with!
